Nighttime Hayrides
Our nighttime hayrides are mainly for groups. They
start at 6 PM and run through 10 PM. They are available daily from
the last weekend in September through October. A tractor drawn
hayride, which last between 20 and 30 minutes, drops your group at a
bonfire site in the field. There you will find crates set in a circle
around the bonfire. You will also find wire skewers for
roasting hot dogs and marshmallows and tables for additional food. Simmons
Farm will provide the marshmallows and apples for your group. The Nighttime Hayride is done on a per wagon
bases, with approximately 30 to 35 people per wagon. This event must be
scheduled in advance by calling (724) 941-1490.
If you have scheduled a Nighttime Hayride, the
following are some helpful hints to make things go a little smother for
your group.

|
ARRIVALS:
1.
Please have your group arrive 15 minutes before your departure
time. Your hayride will be
scheduled either from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM or 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM. If you
are late arriving, this may cause you to wait for a later tractor and/or
take away from your time at the bonfire, so please be prompt. Arrangements
will be made to take latecomers to the bonfire.
2.
Arrangements
can be made for later group departure time, to the bonfire, or earlier
pick-up time, at the bonfire, to return to your vehicles, but only within
the three hours designated for your bonfire.
3.
Have your group
meet in the greenhouse next to the market. Once you entire group has
arrived and is ready to proceed, to the bonfire. The driver will load you
on the wagon. The balance for your hayride is due before loading the
wagon. We ask there be adequate supervision on the hayride and at the bonfire |
|
|
Bonfire:
1.
Food is allowed at the bonfire. It can be taken to the
site prior to the hayride or placed on the wagon if there is room.
Remember lighting is limited, at the site, so we recommend you make it
simple. All groups receive marshmallows, roasting wires, and apples.
Please watch your children with the roasting wires!
2.
No alcoholic beverages permitted on the wagon, at the
bonfire, or in the parking lot. The leader will receive a radio for use in
contacting the farm in case of an emergency.
3.
Remember it is usually several degrees colder, on the
hayride than at your home so dress warm or bring blankets. There will be
crates to sit on and a table for any food you bring. |
|
Departure:
1.
Hayrides end no later than 9:00 or 10:00 PM depending on your
starting time. All vehicles and riders must leave the farm shortly after
returning to the market. The Farm closes at 10:00 PM.
2.
A deposit can be refunded only due to rain or other unsafe
conditions.
3.
We hope you have a memorable evening at our farm.
